BECKLEY, West Virginia -- A strong fourth quarter lifted WVU Tech past Midway University 77-68 in a quarterfinal of the River States Conference (RSC) Championship. The Golden Bears will next face Asbury University Saturday, February 27 in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Tech was down 52-54 after three quarters before staging a comeback in the final ten minutes, outscoring the Eagles 25-14. Sophomore
Brianna Ball stepped up, producing nine points, five rebounds and two blocks in the final quarter. The Cincinnati, Ohio native totaled a double-double of 15 points and 13 boards.
Junior
ShanEttine Butler poured in six points in the fourth towards her total of 12 points and had two assists.
Senior
Alexandria Gray finished with a team-high 18 points including five in the fourth. She also produced seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Fellow senior
Makayla Jones came of the bench to hustle for 12 points, including a 4-for-6 effort from the arc, and four rebounds.Â

Brittney Justice pulled down a game-best 14 boards to go with eight points and five assists.
Whittney Justice, also a senior, posted seven points, four assists and three rebounds.
The Gold and Blue will head to Asbury with a record of 10-8 while the Eagles are 14-5. The last time the two teams met, January 21, 2021, Tech defeated Asbury 97-92 in overtime.
