BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's basketball moved to 8-5 this season after they defeated Ohio Christian University 84-53 Saturday at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center. The Trailblazers now hold a record of 4-10.
Efficient shooting from the foul line, 75.0 percent (24-for-32), helped lift the Golden Bears past Ohio Christian. Seniors
Juvante' Hayes and
Andreas Jönsson both finished 6-for-7 from the the bonus stripe towards Tech's best foul shooting of the season.
Hayes totaled 14 points, three boards and two assists while Jönsson tallied 15 points, with three made beyond the arc, and three steals.
Fellow senior
Tamon Scruggs finished 6-for-10 from the floor for a game-best 17 points. The South Charleston, West Virginia native also posted six rebounds and two assists.
Sophomore
Ashton Parker put down 16 points and was one board shy of the double-double with nine rebounds.
Sophomore
Andrew Work marked five points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Freshman
Thomas Hailey recorded seven points and two steals while freshman
Philip Mullins produced four assists, four points and two steals.
Tech will next travel to Carlow University Tuesday, February 9 for another River States Conference match-up.
