BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's soccer is finishing up its 2020 season this Spring after the worldwide pandemic slowed down the progress of the campaign this past Fall. The Golden Bears defeated NCAA DII Salem University 4-0 Saturday afternoon in front of a home crowd. Tech, who was ranked No. 14 in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, is now 8-2 overall.
Freshman
Layomi Ogunfowora posted his first and second career goals back-to-back (37' and 39') to help lead the Gold and Blue on offense. His first goal was unassisted and the second came from the perfect pass of sophomore
Ruben Martin Macias.
Tech's second half goals came from Macias (84') and senior
Pablo Muniz Rocandio (86'). Macias was assisted by freshman
James Young and Rocandio found the back of the net off a penalty kick.
In goal, freshman
Jacques D'Monte made five stops and allowed zero goals after 90 minutes.
The Golden Bears are scheduled to return to the field Wednesday, March 17 when they host Indiana Wesleyan University.
