HATTIESBURG, Mississippi --Â WVU Tech men's soccer finished its long 2020 campaign that drifted into 2021 due to the worldwide pandemic after an opening round game of the NAIA National Championship. The No. 2 seeded Golden Bears fell to No. 3 Lindsey Wilson College 2-0 Thursday in Hattiesburg.
Sophomore
Lucas Rivera Paramio protected the net for the Gold and Blue, making seven stops in 90 minutes.
The Golden Bears recorded a total of 12 shots including three from sophomore
Ruben Martin Macias and two each from fellow classmatesÂ
Oleg Tarshin and
Fletcher Caponecchia. Tech's lone shot on goal was produced by freshman
Layomi Ogunfowora.
Lindsey Wilson's goals came from Ezequiel Hernandez (20') and Julien Gastaldy (35').Â
WVU Tech finishes the season with an overall record of 12-4 and currently with five top 20 rankings in the nation (NAIA) including No. 6 in goals per game (3.67), No. 10 in total goals (55), No. No. 14 in assists per game (2.47), No. 15 in total assists (37) and No. 17 in shots on goal per game (9.40).
