BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech softball played a total of eight River States Conference (RSC) games in five days, finishing 4-4 after facing (RV) Indiana University Southeast, Ohio Christian University and Carlow University. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 16-20, 10-12 (RSC) with four regular season contests left on the schedule.
Tech fell to (RV) IU Southeast on Friday, April 23 with scores of 1-2 and 0-2 at Woodrow Wilson High School to kick off the six-game home stand. The Gold and Blue then took two from Ohio Christian on Sunday, posting scores of 2-0 then 9-2. The doubleheader versus Carlow was split after a 6-10 then 2-1 showing. Tech also split the series at Ohio Christian with scores of 3-0 and 1-2.
The eight-game highlights:
- Gabby Pyles finished with seven hits including three doubles to go with five runs scored and a RBI.
- Mackenzie Siersma had five hits, four RBI, two doubles and two runs scored.
- Kyleigh Jackson recorded three RBI, a double, two hits and a run scored.
- Maddie Bowles knocked a homerun.
- Jacey Bertalan posted two RBI and two hits including a double.
- Courtney Miles had two RBI and two hits.
- Makenzie Holley finished with two of each -- RBI, hits and runs scored.
- Kay'Lee Justice and Karina Atanacio had six hits and a double each. Justice scored four runs while Atanacio crossed twice.
- Alexis Lopez recorded five hits and one run scored.
- In the circle, Kourtney McNatt was 2-1 after 20.1 innings pitched. She finished with an ERA of 1.03 and struck out 16 batters.
- Courtney Miles retired 27 batters via strikes, throwing for 20.1 innings towards a record of 1-2 and an ERA of 1.17.
- Taylor Dickerson pitched for 10.2 innings towards 10 strike outs and a 1-1 record.
The Golden Bears will get two days off before they head to Point Park University for another conference doubleheader Friday, April 30.
