BECKLEY, West Virginia -- Sophomore
Marcos Gicovate recorded a hat trick and an assist as WVU Tech defeated Shawnee State University 6-1. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 5-3 while the Bears move to 3-4-1.
Gicovate now has four goals this season after finding the back of the net at 16', 33' and 47'.Â
Senior
Abdelrahman Rabie also had a multi-goal game, producing two for the Gold and Blue (2', 33'). Rabie, who hails from Al Minya, Egypt, also dished two assists in the game.
Freshman
Ignacio Barriga Fernandez posted his second goal this year, scoring in minute 14.
Fellow freshman Nikolaj Park Mortensen and junior
Edward Tordoff also had assists in the victory.
Sophomore
Lucas Rivera Paramio got the W in goal, making one save in 45 minutes. Freshman
Nico Villalobos protected the net the last 45, stopping one Bears attempt.
Tech will next take on River States Conference rival No. 20 University of Rio Grande Saturday at Paul Cline Stadium in Beckley.
