BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech volleyball celebrated seniors
Brooklyn Cook and
Emma Leach as they hosted Carlow University in River States Conference (RSC) play Saturday. The Golden Bears fell 3-1 to the Celtics with scores of 25-20, 22-25, 23-25 and 25-27.
Cook helped lead the way with a double-double of 17 kills and 16 digs. The Ghent, West Virginia native also produced two service aces for the Gold and Blue. With the 17 kills Saturday, Cook reached a career total of 600 with three matches left in the regular season.
Leach, who hails from Washington, West Virginia, stepped up and played all around to tally 21 digs, five kills, a service ace and an assist for Tech. The senior has picked up a total of 377 digs so far as a Golden Bear.
Junior
Julia McClanahan and freshman
Emily Stack had eight kills each while freshman
Giulia Colombo finished with seven.
McClanahan also dished a match-high 37 assists while while recording 15 digs towards the double-double.
The joint effort in the back row also included 22 digs from sophomore
Brooke Presley and 14 from freshmanÂ
Yukari Furuichi Blanchard.Â
The Golden Bears will return to the court Tuesday, November 1 when they travel to Ohio Christian University for more conference action.
