Late goal lifts Golden Bears past Mighty Oaks

Men's Soccer

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's soccer battled to a 2-1 River States Conference (RSC) win over Oakland City University Thursday evening. The Golden Bears now boast a record of 9-2-2, 3-0 (RSC) while the Mighty Oaks move to 5-4-3, 2-2 (RSC).

The two teams went to the locker room at the half scoreless before Tech recorded the first score of the game. In minute 77 senior Luis Alejandro Jaimes posted a goal off the assist from fellow classmate Ruben Martin Macias.

Oakland City answered back with a goal from Reijmar Westerbroek less than ten minutes after Alejandro Jaimes'.

The winning goal came from sophomore Omar Belahna who got the assist from freshman Conrad Ryu Eriksson with only 1:52 left on the clock.

Golden Bear keeper Lucas Rivera Paramio made one stop in 90 minutes for the W. Oakland City's Laurin Aumueller had three saves in the complete game.

The team will next travel to conference rival No. 25 (NAIA) University of Rio Grande Saturday, October 15 for a 6 p.m. match-up.
