BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's basketball sailed past Carlow University 99-72 in River States Conference (RSC) action Thursday evening. The Golden Bears boast a record of 5-2, 1-0 (RSC) while the Celtics move to 4-2, 0-1 (RSC).
Freshman
Alva Hedrich came off the bench to produce a team-high 20 points including a 6-for-7 effort from the foul line. Hedrich also recorded seven rebounds, an assist and a block.
Junior
Faith N. Silva recorded 19 points, four rebounds and two of each -- assists and steals.
Fellow junior
Valiyah Yazzie poured in 18 points to go with two assists, two steals and a rebound.
Also a junior,
Breeana Grigsby rounds out the top scorers for the Gold and Blue, posting 17 points, two rebounds, a steal and an assist.
Sophomore
Ca'Vashia Johnson pulled down seven boards to go with a game-best eight assists, two blocks and two points.
Freshman
Rylee Allie had four steals, four assists and a rebound for the Golden Bears.
WVU Tech shot 48.6 percent (36-for-74) from the floor while holding the Celtics to just 38.2 percent (26-for-68). The Golden Bears also held the edge in rebounds, 49-38.
The team will continue conference play when they host Point Park University at Appalachian Bible College this Saturday, tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
