WALESKA, Georgia -- WVU Tech wrestling finished sixth overall after a full day at the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship Friday.
Isaiha Casto led the Gold and Blue, finishing as this season's AAC runner-up at 174 lbs. Casto, finished 1-1 including a 13-3 major decision over Truett McConnell's Ian James. He fell just short in the championship bout, falling to Reinhardt's Cole Tenety with a 10-7 decision.
At 133 lbs.,
Steven Slack II finished 2-2 including a 6-4 decision over Braden Wharton of Montreat to finish fourth overall.
Jacob Thomas (184 lbs.) also earned a fourth place finish, earning a fall (2:15) over Bluefield's Sonny Stewart and finishing 1-2 on the day.
Ryan Turney (165 lbs.) picked up some team points for the Golden Bears, posting a fall (4:20) over Kyle Neal of Bluefield.
Judson McCray competed in his final meet as a Golden Bear, picking up 14 points over Truett's Matthew Johnson but falling by decision at 141 lbs.
The competition was hosted by Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.
