SPARTANBURG, South Carolina -- WVU Tech softball has begun the 2022 season with much success, winning seven of its first eight games including a doubleheader sweep over Converse University Monday. The Golden Bears are now 7-1 overall while Converse moves to 0-16.
Over two games,
Makenzie Holley,
Kay'Lee Justice and
Nicole Kester had three hits each while
Macy Wilkens led the way with four hits. Justice and Wilkens both knocked a double while Kester and
Courtney Miles tallied a triple each.
Holley (2), Miles (2), Wilkens,
Jacey Bertalan and
Brianna Stevenson drove runs in for the Gold and Blue.
In the circle,
Emma Crisswell was credited the win in game one. Crisswell pitched a complete game towards a strike out and just two earned runs.
For game two, Miles got the W after throwing for seven innings while giving up just one hit. Miles also retired eight batters via strikes.
The team will next travel to University of Pikeville for a doubleheader scheduled for March 3.
