JOHNSON CITY, Tennessee -- WVU Tech baseball opened its 2022 campaign with two doubleheaders at the Clash of Conferences Tournament held Sunday and Monday. The Golden Bears earned a 2-1 victory over Thomas More University before falling to the same opponent 5-3 Sunday. Monday Tech dropped 7-3 and 4-3 decisions to Milligan University.
Hunter Fansler led the Gold and Blue at the plate over four games, recording a home run and a double towards five hits. He also posted two RBI.
Broedy Boyce had four hits including a double to go with two RBI and two stolen bases.
Noah Lukas and
Calen Owens both had two hits while
Spencer Kenney finished with two RBI.
Trenton Begley picked up Tech's W on the mound after 3.0 innings and two strike outs.
Logan Stump posted eight strike outs over 4.2 innings while
Matthew Gainer and
Logan McClure retired four batters via strikes each.
The Golden Bears will next hit the road for a four-game series at St. Andrews University Saturday and Sunday.
