CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- WVU Tech baseball took a three-game series from River States Conference (RSC) opponent Ohio Christian University 2-1 after two days of action in Circleville. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 5-17, 3-3 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 4-12, 1-5 (RSC).
Tech picked up the first W with a score of 5-1 before a victorious game two at 4-1 in extra innings and falling 2-3 in the final contest.
Over the series,
Francesco Calderon led the Golden Bears at the plate with four hits, six RBI and a double.
Broedy Boyce and
Connor Burks had three hits each while Boyce scored two runs and Burks posted a double and a run scored.
Rilley Dube,
Calen Owens,
Garrett Warden and
Noah Lukas also had a multi-hit series, posting two each.
Lukas also finished with two doubles and a RBI while Dube and Owens had a double each.
Ryan Miller finished with two RBI and a hit for the Gold and Blue.
Logan McClure earned the win on the mound in game one, throwing for 6.0 innings and striking out five Trailblazers.
The second W on the bump was credited to
Matthew Gainer who pitched 8.0 innings, posting seven strike outs.
Jonathan Toro Mesa picked up the saves in both of Tech's wins, pitching a total of 1.1 innings and retiring a batter via strikes.
