OAKLAND CITY, Indiana -- WVU Tech baseball began River States Conference (RSC) play at Oakland City University for a three-game series Friday-Saturday. The Golden Bears earned a 7-6 (6 innings) victory in the final contest after falling 2-4 Friday and 10-11 (11 innings) in game two.
Series Breakdown:
Broedy Boyce managed a team-high four hits that included a home run.
Francesco Calderon,
Garrett Warden and
Michael Aponte Rivera finished with three hits each. Aponte Rivera (HR) had two RBI and Warden posted one.
Hunter Fansler,
Rilley Dube and
Calen Owens recorded two hits apiece. Fansler (HR) and Dube (2B) both had four RBI while Owens had one.
Noah Lukas posted two RBI off a home run for the Gold and Blue.
Logan Spurlock also knocked a long ball towards a RBI.
Tanner Buchanan was awarded the W on the bump in game three, throwing for 1.0 innings and striking out two batters.
Matthew Gainer threw for 6.0 innings, retiring six batters via strikes to lead Tech's pitchers in strike outs.
The Golden Bears now hold a record of 3-15, 1-2 (RSC) and will next travel to Bluefield College for a non-conference match-up Tuesday (March 8).
