Golden Bears take conference series 2-1 vs. IU Kokomo

BLUEFIELD, Virginia -- WVU Tech baseball hosted Indiana University Kokomo in a three-game River States Conference (RSC) series at Bowen Field in Bluefield Sunday-Monday. The Golden Bears earned 8-6 and 2-0 victories before falling 14-3 in the final contest.

On the mound, Logan McClure pitched a complete game for the shutout victory in game two, striking out five batters.

Matthew Gainer earned the other W on the bump, pitching 7.0 innings and posting four strikeouts.

Jonathan Toro Mesa (4.2 innings) and Tyler Wilkinson (2.0 innings) struck out three each while Cole Cline (1.0 innings) struck out two.

Broedy Boyce led at the plate during the series, recording five hits including a dinger and three RBI.

Francesco Calderon finished with four hits, three RBI and a double.

Rilley Dube had three hits, two RBI and a double while Calen Owens posted two hits, a triple and one RBI.

WVU Tech is now 8-30 overall and 6-12 in conference play.
