BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech softball now has seven consecutive wins after defeating Brescia University 5-3 then 9-0 (5 Innings) in River States Conference (RSC) action Tuesday. The Golden Bears move to 21-18, 7-9 (RSC) while the Bearcats hold a record of 3-22, 0-10 (RSC).
Kelsey Huffman had a strong showing at the plate, finishing a perfect 2-for-2 towards a double, two RBI and a run scored.
The leadoff batter in both games,
Mackenzie Siersma, recorded four hits that included three RBI and two doubles. Siersma also posted two steals.
Makenzie Holley,
Gabrielle Pyles and
Courtney Miles posted three hits each. Miles had two doubles and two RBI while Pyles had one RBI.
Macy Wilkens and
Jacey Bertalan drove in three runs each.
Taylor Dickerson (6-5) earned the W in the circle after pitching 7.0 innings and striking out four batters in game one.
The shutout victory was credited to Miles (11-8) where she struck out seven batters in 5.0 innings of work.
The Golden Bears will continue conference play when they travel to Point Park University April 15 for two games.
