BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech women's soccer fell to Shaw University 3-0 in non-conference action Saturday evening. The Golden Bears are now 0-6 this season while the Shaw Bears move to 1-4 overall.
The game was cut short due to an injury on the field, but in the 74 minutes of play Tech's keeper freshman
Sandra Garcia made eight stops for the Gold and Blue. In her five games played, Garcia has recorded 34 saves and is ranked No. 16 in the nation (NAIA) with that number.
The Gold and Blue's shot on goal Saturday was credited to freshman
Meghan Cloninger.
Shaw's keeper, Andrea Fernandez, was credited with the save protecting the net. The Bears' goals came from Ellie MacDonald (9'), Mya Rolinson (18') and Thalita Faria (38').
The Golden Bears will hit the road again Wednesday, September 14 when they travel to Georgetown College in Kentucky.
