Golden Bears pick up conference victory

Men's Basketball

BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's basketball earned its third consecutive victory, all in River States Conference (RSC) play, 80-69 against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College Thursday evening. The Golden Bears boost their record to 11-8, 6-3 (RSC) while the Polmeroy's move to 6-12, 1-8 (RSC).

Junior Ashton Parker poured in a career-high 32 points to lead all scorers. Parker finished 11-for-13 from the field and 10-for-11 from the foul line while recording three of each -- rebounds, blocks, assists -- and a steal.

Senior Bryce Radford hit three three's towards 19 points to go with five boards and four assists.

Darrin Martin, a redshirt sophomore, came off the bench to produce nine points, four rebounds and an assist.

Junior Keondre' King and freshman Brant Smithers both hit two from beyond the arc towards seven and six points respectively. King pulled down three boards while Smithers had four.

As a team, Tech finished with an efficient 63.6 percent (28-for-44) from the field, 53.8 percent (7-for-13) from three-point range and 70.8 percent (17-for-24) from the bonus strip.

The Golden Bears will return to action at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center this Saturday, January 21 when they host Indiana University Kokomo for conference action.
