BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech women's basketball earned its first victory of the 2023-2024 season, defeating Bryant & Stratton Buffalo 76-57 in the final game of the Hampton Inn Beckley Golden Bear Classic. The Golden Bears are now 1-1 while the Bobcats move to 0-2.
Sophomore
Alva Hedrich (Muecke, Hessen, Germany) helped lead the Gold and Blue with a double-double of 23 rebounds and 17 points to go with four blocks and an assist.
Fellow sophomore
Alexis Sexton (Lexington, S.C.) finished 6-for-11 from the field and 4-for-5 from the bonus line towards a game-high 18 points. Sexton also recorded seven boards, three assists and a steal.
Sophomore
Rylee Allie (Huntington, W.Va.) posted 16 points, including a perfect 6-for-6 effort from the foul line, two rebounds and two steals.
Also hitting double-digits for Tech was sophomore
Nell Marx (Stockholm, Sweden) who poured in 15 points to go with six rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Junior
Leonor Ferreira (Matosinhos, Portugal) pulled down ten boards and had nine points, six assists, a game-high, and a steal.
The Golden Bears will be back in action Thursday, November 2 when they travel to Williamsburg, Ky. to face Simmons College of Kentucky in the Cumberlands Classic at 5 p.m.
