BECKLEY, W.Va. -- The Golden Bears of WVU Tech have garnered four straight wins after defeating Mid-Atlantic Christian University 113-46 at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center Tuesday. The Golden Bears boost their record to 8-3 while the Mustangs hold a record of 3-9.
In 40 minutes of play, seven Golden Bears scored in double-digits as the team shot an efficient 66.7 percent (46-for-69) from the floor and had a 66.7 percent (10-for-15) effort from beyond the arc. Tech's defense held their opponent to just a 27.1 percent (16-for-59) effort from the floor.
Sophomore
Thomas Hailey (Monroe, N.C.) led all scorers with 20 points to go with six boards.
Junior
Darrin Martin (Bluefield, W.Va.) came off the bench to pour in 15 points and dish five assists.
Freshman
Braden Chapman (Beaver, W.Va.) added 13 points and seven assists for the Gold and Blue.
Three freshmen had career days including
Cameron Danser (Morgantown, W.Va.) with 12 points and five rebounds,
Richard Fu (Taipei, Taiwan) with ten points and
Simon Tesfit (Stockholm, Sweden) with eight points.
Rounding out the top offensive contributors for Tech were sophomore
Brant Smithers (Williamstown, Ky.) and senior
Ashton Parker (Rock Hill, S.C.) who had 11 and ten points respectively. Parker recorded a double-double with ten rebounds.
Freshman
Cole Chapman had a game-best ten assists to go with six points and four rebounds.
Tech will return to action December 30 when they play host to Taylor University for another non-conference contest.
