BLUEFIELD, Virginia -- WVU Tech baseball traveled to Bluefield University Friday and Saturday for three games where they fell 5-4, 3-2 and 14-9. The Golden Bears are now 1-6 in 2023 while the Rams move to 5-1.
Sophomore
Logan Spurlock led the Gold and Blue at the plate after three games with six total hits. Spurlock tallied five RBI, a homer and a triple towards a slugging percentage of 1.222.
Seven Golden Bears tallied three hits each during the series including seniors

Ryan Miller, junior
Francesco Calderon, sophomores
Jordan Thurmond,
Broedy Boyce and
Noah Lukas and freshman
Chase Herndon.
Lukas, Miller and sophomore
Garrett Warden all posted dingers while Herndon posted a triple.
Miller finished with three RBI while sophomore Hunter Fransler drove in two runs. Fransler also took two stolen bases for Tech.
On the mound senior
Matthew Gainer had 12 strikeouts over 6.1 innings. Senior
Isaac Wengert threw for 6.0 innings and struck out eight batters.
The team will return to the field February 18-19 when they travel to Lawrenceville, Georgia to face No. 7 Georgia Gwinnett College and Thomas University.
