CHARLESTON, West Virginia -- WVU Tech split a doubleheader with Lawrence Tech University to complete a four-game series at GoMart Ballpark this weekend. The teams gave fans bonus baseball Sunday, going 13 innings before the Blue Devils ended it at 5-4. The Golden Bears then won the finale of the series in walk off fashion 9-8.
In game four Tech came out on top after a three-run blast from
Francesco Calderon who drove in
Carson Brown and
Ryan Miller. Brown was running for
Xavier Martin who landed on first after a hit by pitch and Miller made his way on base via an error from Lawrence Tech.
Over two games,
Broedy Boyce led the way at the plate with five RBI, two doubles and three hits.
Calderon finished with three RBI, a homer and a triple.
Hunter Fansler recorded two hits including a triple towards two RBI.
Garrett Warden,
Noah Lukas and
Logan Stump drove a run in each. Lukas had three hits, two being doubles, Stump had two and Warden posted one hit.
The game two W on the mound Sunday was credited to
Logan Stump who threw for 2.1 innings, striking out three while giving up one hit and zero earned runs.
Jonathan Toro Mesa earned the start in game one, striking out three after 5.0 innings.
Tech will return to action this Tuesday when they travel to Bluefield University in Virginia for one nine-inning game.
