CHARLOTTE, North Carolina -- Nathan Morton (5th year) represented WVU Tech during the 49er Classic hosted by UNC Charlotte Friday evening where he earned a new program record in the 10,000m run.
Morton, who hails from Christiansburg, Virginia, surpassed the previous record established in 2017 by
Jesse Griesheimer with a time of 32:57.52. Griesheimer's time in the record books is 33:26.11.
The fifth year also picked up a program record for WVU Tech in the 800m run February 4 at the Liberty Open with a time of 2:10.35. The previous record was established by
Marcus Vital in 2019 with a 2:13.98.
With his time of 32:57.52 Friday, Morton finished 22nd out of 30 competitors in Charlotte.
The Golden Bears will return to action March 24-25 when they travel to Montreat, North Carolina for the Montreat College Open.
