PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- WVU Tech softball split a River States Conference (RSC) doubleheader at Carlow University Saturday, dropping the first game 3-11 before blanking the Celtics 8-0 in the series finale, both in five innings. The Golden Bears move to 10-8, 1-1 (RSC) in 2023 while Carlow holds a record of 3-13, 1-1 (RSC).
Courtney Miles drew the start and earned a loss in the circle after 3.2 innings in game one. Miles struck out two. The game two shutout victory was credited to
Emma Crisswell after a complete game and four strikeouts.
Over two games,
Nicole Kester led the Gold and Blue with a slugging percentage of 1.800 and batting average of .800 off of a 4-for-5 showing. Kester had two triples, three RBI, four runs scored and two stolen bases.
Mackenzie Siersma also tallied four hits, recording two RBI and a double.
Kelsey Huffman and
Hailea Skeens had two hits each including a double from Huffman and a RBI from Skeens.
The Point Park doubleheader scheduled for Sunday was postponed due to weather, Tech will next travel to Kentucky Christian University Tuesday, March 21 for two games.
