Golden Bears earn second straight conference win

Volleyball

BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech volleyball is enjoying a three-match winning streak including two straight River States Conference (RSC) contests. The Golden Bears defeated Point Park University 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-19) and now holds a record of 6-8, 2-0 (RSC) while the Pioneers move to 2-5, 0-1 (RSC).

Senior Ana Muniz Rocandio (Oviedo, Asturias, Spain) recorded a double-double of 18 digs and ten kills to go with two assists, a block solo and a service ace.

Junior Madison Boswell (Ronceverte, W.Va.) put down eight kills and had three digs and a block solo.

Freshman Marianna Oyola Rivera (Cuamo, Puerto Rico) had seven kills while sophomores Nevaeh Wooding (While Sulphur Springs, W.Va.) and Emily Stack (Beckey, W.Va.) had six each. Oyola Rivera also posted three digs and three service aces.

Senior Julia McClanahan finished with 32 assists to go with four digs, four kills and two service aces.

Junior Brooke Presley (Shady Spring, W.Va.) picked up 18 digs and had three assists and a service ace.

The Golden Bears will be back in Van Meter Gym tomorrow, Saturday to play host to University of Rio Grande in another conference match-up at 12 p.m.
