BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech volleyball played to a 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18) River States Conference (RSC) win over Ohio Christian University Tuesday evening in Van Meter Gym. The Golden Bears boost their record to 7-9, 3-1 (RSC) while the Trailblazers move to 5-9, 0-3 (RSC) in 2023.
Junior
Madison Boswell (Ronceverte, W.Va.) had a standout day at the net, recording seven block solos to go with 13 kills. Boswell also picked up four digs.
The attack and back row defense was led by senior
Ana Muniz Rocandio (Oviedo, Asturias, Spain) who posted a double-double for the Gold and Blue. Muniz Rocandio had 23 digs and 17 kills to go with two block solos and a service ace.
Sophomore
Nevaeh Wooding (White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.) put down eight kills while freshman
Marianna Oyola Rivera (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and sophomore
Emily Stack (Beckey, W.Va.) had six and four kills respectively.
WVU Tech runs a 5-1 where senior
Julia McClanahan (Charleston, W.Va.) shined tonight with 42 assists to go with ten digs and a block solo.
Junior libero
Brooke Presley (Shady Spring, W.Va.) finished with 22 digs, two service aces and two assists for the Golden Bears.
The team will be back in action in Van Meter Gym this Saturday at noon when they play host to Indiana University East for more conference action.
