MOUNT HOPE, W.Va. -- WVU Tech volleyball first defeated Alice Lloyd College 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-20) followed by another 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-4) victory against host school Appalachian Bible College Tuesday (September 5, 2023).
Senior
Julia McClanahan (Charleston, W.Va.) put out 57 assists to go with 14 digs. McClanahan also finished with five kills and three blocks over two matches. Freshman Marianna Oyola Rivera had 27 assists, seven kills and six digs.
The attack was led by junior
Madison Boswell (Ronceverte, W.Va.) who recorded 25 kills at 4.17 kills per set. Senior
Ana Muniz Rocandio (Oviedo, Asturias, Spain) posted 20 kills and 31 digs. Sophomores
Emily Stack (Beckley, W.Va.) and
Nevaeh Wooding (White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.) also hit double digits over two matches with 12 and 10 kills respectively.
Junior
Brooke Presley (Ghent, W.Va.) picked up 26 digs to go with an assist and a kill. Sophomore
Peydon Smith (Beaver, W.Va.) recorded 11 digs while junior Roxana Vasquez (Coamo, Puertor Rico) produced 10 digs. Smith also earned Golden Bear points with six service aces.
The Golden Bears will be back in action when they travel to NCAA DII Glenville State for a doubleheader this Friday.
