SAINT MARY-OF-THE-WOODS, Ind. -- (RV) WVU Tech men's basketball's eight-game winning streak was halted by Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in River States Conference (RSC) play Thursday after a score of 87-60. The Golden Bears move to 12-4, 5-2 (RSC) while the Pomeroys move to 12-4, 6-0 (RSC).
As a team Tech shot 41.2 percent (21-for-51) from the floor while SMWC finished at 44.4 percent (32-for-72). The Pomeroys pulled down 48 boards compared to the Gold and Blue's 27 rebounds.Â
Three Golden Bears hit double-digits including sophomore
Brant Smithers (Williamstown, Ky.) who hit four three's towards 14 points. Senior
Andrew Work (Oak Hill, W.Va.) and freshman
Braden Chapman (Beaver, W.Va.) added 12 and 11 points respectively.
Sophomore
Thomas Hailey (Monroe, N.C.) posted eight points and seven rebounds. He also had three assists and a steal.
The team will look to bounce back when they travel to IU Kokomo Saturday for more conference action scheduled for 3 p.m.
