Golden Bears drop conference contest at Shawnee State

Women's Basketball

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- WVU Tech women's basketball fell at Shawnee State University 64-50 Tuesday evening. The Golden Bears will next host Point Park University for a Gold Rush this Saturday, February 3.

Tech was led by senior Elysia Perez (health services administration) who was a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc towards 12 points. Sophomore Alexis Sexton (civil engineering) finished with 12 points and had five rebounds.

Senior Marquesia Heidt (psychology) and junior Leonor Ferreira (sports management) added eight and seven points respectively.

Sophomore Alva Hedrich (mathematics) recorded six points, six rebounds and five assists while senior Breeana Grigsby (sports management) pulled down four boards and had two points.

The Golden Bears (4-16, 1-9 RSC) will tip-off against Point Park (15-5, 8-3 RSC) at 1 p.m. in the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center. Fans are encouraged to wear gold for the GOLD RUSH as they support the Gold and Blue Saturday.
