Beckley, W.Va. - The WVU Tech Rainbow Six Siege team earned a 2-1 win over Robert Morris University Wednesday night.
     Golden Bear operators SithLordSam (Sam Miller, Sr.), TheAbaW (Tamer Abdelgelil, Sr.), AMGscythe (Andrew Gwinn, Fr.), Hilbert (Patrick Hilbert, Soph.) and AvailingStorm (Thomas Vecellio, Sr.) needed and delivered a week three win after hard-fought losses to St. Bonaventure and Marietta during the first two weeks of National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) action. 
     WVU Tech brawled with the Colonials in game one on the map Chalet, falling in overtime (round 15) by a score of 8-7. TheAbaW led the way for the Golden Bears with a match score of 4,961, 17 kills, eight deaths and four assists. 
     The Golden Bears shook off the heartbreaking first game loss as game two got underway on the map Nighthaven Labs and made a lineup change, subbing in 1st-year team member bizzy.biyombo (Noah Tucker, Soph.) for AvailingStorm. The result was a 7-0 beatdown and game two win for WVU Tech, tying the match at 1-1. TheAbaW was the top operator again for Tech, scoring 5,515 with a K/D/A of 10/2/0. 
     Game three, played on the map Kafe Donstoyevsky, was a back and forth fight just like game one. But the Golden Bear were able to maintain the momentum after starting out 4-2 on defense, trading rounds as roles switched but closing it out in round 12 to avoid overtime with a 7-5 win. For a third straight game, TheAbaW carried the play for the Golden Bears, with a line of 6,910/19/6/4.
     The win moves WVU Tech to 1-2 on the young season in NECC's Division IV, and they match up against Pace University (1-2) next Wednesday, October 23 at 8:00 p.m. The match will be streamed live on Twitch (WVUTechGoldenBears).
