PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- WVU Tech softball split two River States Conference (RSC) doubleheaders this weekend, first at Ohio Christian University (0-8, 3-2) followed by two at Point Park (0-8, 5-0). The Golden Bears now hold a record of 8-11, 4-4 (RSC).
Senior
Taylor Dickerson (Mt. Lookout, W.Va.) earned both W's in the circle after 14.0 innings and six strike outs. Dickerson gave up just two earned runs and scattered 13 hits. Freshman
Kaylie Lawrence (Greenup, Ky.) and sophomore
Meghan Gill (Victor, W.Va.) pitched 3.0 and 6.2 innings respectively and were dealt the losses Saturday and Sunday. Lawrence retired two batters via strikes while Gill recorded one strike out.
Sophomore
Hailea Skeens (Shady Spring, W.Va.) tallied five hits towards a batting average of .500 over four games, adding a double and a run scored. Senior
Kyleigh Jackson (Hico, W.Va.) recorded three hits and a RBI for the Gold and Blue. Sophomore
Olivia Barnett (Shady Spring, W.Va.) also had a multi-hit weekend, posting two hits including a home run towards a RBI and two runs scored.
Senior
Macy Wilkens (Greenville, Ind.) and sophomore
Tori Wells (Dunbar, W.Va) both drove in two runs while Wilkens hit a dinger and crossed the plate twice. Seniors
McKayla Bartley (Pahrump, Nev.) and
Makenzie Holley (Sophia, W.Va.) had a double apiece while Bartley scored a run and Holley recorded a stolen base. Freshman
Trista Marcum (Williamson, W.Va.) tabbed a RBI in the win against Point Park Sunday.
The Golden Bears will begin a four-game homestand this Friday, March 22 when they host Shawnee State University at Fitzpatrick Park for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
