PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- WVU Tech baseball earned a 12-3 victory at Shawnee State University in the finale of a three-game River States Conference (RSC) sequence. The Golden Bears now hold a record of 16-13, 5-7 (RSC) after scores of 2-9 and 9-11 in the first two contest of the series.
At the plate senior
Ryan Miller (Hope Mills, N.C.) led the team with three RBI while juniors
Noah Lukas (Ocala, Flda.),
Garrett Warden (Fayetteville, Tenn.)Â and
William Gray (Rockwell, N.C.) and sophomore
Noah Cummings (Alum Creek, W.Va.) drove in a run each. Lukas and Cummings recorded three hits apiece while scoring three and four runs respectively.
Junior
Robert Kelley (Vienna, W.Va.) drew the start on the mound, putting in 5.0 innings of work towards six strike outs and just two earned runs. Freshmen
Wyatt Sisk (Appomattox, Va.) and
Pedro Henrique Luciano (Atlanta, Ga.) threw 1.0 innings each, striking out two and one opponents respectively while giving up zero hits and zero runs.
As a team, Tech tallied ten hits towards seven RBI and grabbed two stolen bases. The SB's were credited to sophomore
Chase Herndon (Hedgesville, W.Va.) and junior
Jordan Thurmond (Rock Hill, S.C.).
The Golden Bears will next travel to Milligan University for a 2 p.m. contest Tuesday.
