BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech softball dropped a 4-1 decision before falling 13-9 against River States Conference (RSC) opponent Indiana University Southeast at Fitzpatrick Park Saturday. The Golden Bears move to 9-18, 5-11 (RSC) while the Grenadiers hold a record of 20-11, 14-2 (RSC).
Senior
Kyleigh Jackson (Hico, W.Va.) tallied four hits in two games including two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored.
Sophomore
Olivia Barnett (Shady Spring, W.Va.) recorded three hits including a dinger, three RBI and two runs scored.
The final Golden Bear with a multi-hit day Saturday was junior
Macy Wilkens (Greenville, Ind.) who had two hits and a run scored for the Gold and Blue.
Senior
Maggie Richards (Parkersburg, W.Va.) and freshman
Abby Gates (West Columbia, S.C.) drove in two runs each. Gates knocked a double and crossed the plate once while Richards also scored a run.
Freshman
Kaylie Lawrence (Greenup, Ky.) posted her third double of the season during the doubleheader.
In the circle, senior
Taylor Dickerson (Mt. Lookout, W.Va.) pitched 9.2 innings over two games, giving up just three earned runs while scattering nine hits. Dickerson was dealt both losses while striking out four Grenadiers.
Sophomore
Meghan Gill (Victor, W.Va.) put in 3.1 innings of work off the rubber and struck out one batter while freshman
Ashleigh James (Logan, Ohio) pitched 1.0 innings.
The Golden Bears will hit the road for more conference play Friday, April 5 when they travel to Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College for a doubleheader.
