BECKLEY, W.Va. -- WVU Tech baseball earned a 13-11 victory against non-conference opponent Bluefield University Tuesday at Linda K. Epling Stadium. The Golden Bears boost their record to 25-20 while the Rams move to 20-19 in 2024.

Dakota Aspinwall (Statesville, N.C.) drew the start on the mound and earned a W after 2.0 innings and a strikeout. Fellow classmate
William Gray (Rockwell, N.C.) made his debut on the bump, grabbing the save after 0.2 innings and a strikeout. The Golden Bears also saw action from junior

At the plate, freshman
Reece Patterson (Shady Spring, W.Va.) had a standout day with a perfect 5-for-5 showing, including a double, towards four RBI. Junior
Hunter Fansler (Beckley, W.Va.) also drove in four runs, recording a double and a homer.
Gray and sophomore
Chase Herndon (Hedgesville, W.Va.) had three hits and a RBI apiece. Both Golden Bears rocked a long ball while Herndon added a triple.
Junior
Logan Spurlock (Charleston, W.Va.) and sophomore
Noah Cummings (Alum Creek, W.Va.) also had a multi-hit day with two each. Cummings had a double and a RBI while Spurlock crossed the plate four times and had a stolen base.
No. 3 (East) WVU Tech will begin the River States Conference Championship with a first round game against No. 6 (West) Indiana University Purdue University Columbus this Friday, April 26Â in Beckley. The first pitch at Linda K. Epling Stadium is scheduled for 2 p.m.
