BECKLEY, W.Va. (Oct. 23, 2025) — No. 19 WVU Tech men's soccer extended its unbeaten run to 15 matches and win streak to 10 with a dominant 8–0 victory over Indiana University East in River States Conference play Thursday evening at Paul Cline Stadium.
The Golden Bears (13-0-2, 8-0 RSC) remained the lone unbeaten team in the RSC and continued to sit atop the conference table heading into the final week of regular-season play.
First-half fireworks
Julian Diaz opened the scoring just 2:38 into the match off an assist from Hugo Roman, setting the tone for an explosive half. Julen Recalde buried a penalty kick in the 28th minute — his fifth straight match with a goal — to make it 2–0.
Leny Duperray, Roman, Retshepile Moloja (PK) and Christian Piewe added tallies to push the lead to 6–0 by halftime, marking Tech's highest first-half output of the 2025 campaign.
Finishing strong
Freshman Linus Kleinewiese scored his first collegiate goal in the 73rd minute, and Piewe finished off a brace in the 77th minute on a feed from Nicklas Träm.
WVU Tech outshot IU East 20–4 with a 14–1 edge in shots on goal. Recalde paced the attack with four shots, while seven different Golden Bears scored in the rout.
Defensive dominance
The Golden Bear defense recorded its seventh clean sheet of the season, while senior goalkeeper Luka Felix picked up win No. 3 and lowered his season GAA to 0.67. WVU Tech has allowed just one goal over its last three matches.
