BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech women's soccer returned to the win column Thursday night, defeating Indiana University East 1–0 in a key River States Conference matchup at Paul Cline Stadium.
Julia Silva broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with her seventh goal of the season, powering the Golden Bears (8-3-3, 5-1-1 RSC) to their fifth league victory and third home win of 2025.
Senior goalkeeper Sandra Garcia Quílez earned her sixth shutout of the season, making four saves to keep the Red Wolves off the board. The Golden Bears' back line was sharp all night, limiting IU East to just five shots on frame and none after the 55th minute.
WVU Tech generated steady attacking pressure, finishing with a 14–7 edge in total shots and a 9–5 advantage in shots on goal. Silva, Martina Latapi Gomez and Victoria Pare were active throughout the night, combining for five of those on-target efforts.
The victory keeps the Golden Bears in the thick of the RSC title chase, sitting third in the standings entering the final stretch of the regular season.
