Records, Form & Setting

WVU Tech (6–28, 5–11 RSC) enters postseason play as the No. 8 seed following a challenging conference schedule that featured several tight sets down the stretch. The Golden Bears closed the regular season on November 8 at Rio Grande and will now face a rematch against top-seeded IU Kokomo.

IU Kokomo (27–5, 16–0 RSC) completed an unbeaten conference campaign and rides a 22-match win streak into the RSC Tournament. The Cougars are ranked No. 1 in the league after dominating statistically across nearly every category, posting a .250 team hitting percentage and averaging over 13 kills per set.

The quarterfinal winner advances to Friday's semifinals to face the IU Southeast–IU East winner.

Last Meeting

IU Kokomo defeated WVU Tech 3–1 on Oct. 17 in Beckley (18–25, 25–17, 25–10, 25–14).
Tech struck first with a strong opening set before Kokomo's depth and efficiency at the net turned the match.

Setter Anaís González and junior Addison White direct the offense, while freshman Aniston Treadway leads the attack on the outside. By the Numbers

Category WVU Tech IU Kokomo
Record 6–28 27–5
RSC Record 5–11 16–0
Hitting Pct .075 .250
Kills/Set 9.36 13.45
Digs/Set 14.93 16.18
Blocks/Set 1.45 2.15
Aces/Set 1.09 1.84

Tactical Keys

  1. Serve–pass execution.
Kokomo ranks among the RSC leaders in aces, while Tech's defense—led by Smith and Blanchard—will need to handle first contact cleanly to establish its offense.
  2. Efficiency at the net.
The Cougars hit .250 as a team with multiple front-row threats. For Tech, converting transition swings and limiting errors will be crucial to extending rallies.
  3. Composure in long rallies.
Both teams defend at a high rate, but Kokomo's ability to terminate points early often dictates momentum. Tech will look to stretch rallies and create scoring through its middle combination of Wooding and Lattu.
