MARIETTA, Ga. — WVU Tech wrestling turned in a productive day at the Lucha Open on Saturday, stacking wins across the lineup and adding another early-season individual title. The Golden Bears competed through a deep, multi-division field and came away with multiple breakout performances, highlighted by sophomore Troy Harris, who captured the 141-pound championship with a dominant 6–0 effort.
Harris rolled through the bracket with three falls, a major decision and a commanding tech fall in the finals, securing the program's and his second individual title of the month. His performance anchored a strong overall showing for Tech, which saw wrestlers at seven weight classes claim at least one victory.
Freshman Jeremiah Chinyere-Okiyi II delivered a four-win afternoon at 133 pounds, while fellow freshmen Landon Morris, Luke Carpenter, Adams S. Turpin-Abdulrazaaq Jr., and sophomore Jayden Rouse each produced multi-win performances. Senior Shannon Fray also added a major decision and tech fall in his return to 165.
The Golden Bears' results provided another encouraging marker of progress as the roster continues to develop early in the 2025–26 campaign.
