Recalde, Diaz Earn NAIA Men’s Soccer All-America Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two WVU Tech men's soccer players were named to the 2025 NAIA Men's Soccer All-America teams, as announced Monday by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Freshman forward Julen Recalde earned First Team All-America honors, while senior defender Julian Diaz was selected to the Second Team following WVU Tech's historic run to the NAIA National Championship match.

Recalde, a native of San Sebastian, Spain, delivered one of the most impactful freshman seasons in the nation. Appearing in 22 matches with 19 starts, he led the Golden Bears with 16 goals and added three assists for 35 points. Recalde recorded three game-winning goals and finished the season with 69 shots, including 44 on goal, while emerging as a key attacking presence throughout WVU Tech's postseason run.

Diaz, a senior from Uberlândia, Brazil, anchored one of the nation's top defensive units during a championship-level season. Starting all 23 matches, Diaz helped WVU Tech limit opponents to just 18 goals and produce 11 shutouts. He also contributed offensively with two goals and three assists while logging more than 2,000 minutes during the Golden Bears' deep national tournament push.

WVU Tech closed the 2025 season with a 20-1-2 overall record, including a perfect 9-0 mark in River States Conference play. The Golden Bears captured the RSC Championship and advanced to the NAIA National Championship match in Orange Beach, Alabama, marking the program's first appearance on the national final stage.

The All-America honors for Recalde and Diaz further underscore a landmark season for the Golden Bears, highlighted by consistent excellence, postseason success, and national recognition.
