Indoor track & field competes at RSC Championship

Women's and Men's Track & Field

MARIETTA, Ohio -- WVU Tech indoor track & field competed at the River States Conference (RSC) Championship last Friday and Saturday.

Dyson Baudo Rec Center | Marietta, Ohio

NOTES:
  • Samuel Whitcomb is headed to the NAIA National Championship after finishing fourth in the 3,000 meter racewalk with a PR of 15:32.43.
  • Sophie Quinlan recorded an 8.37 in the 55 meter dash, the third best time in the program. 
  • Martina Latapi Gomez is fourth in program history in the 55 meter dash with an 8.72.
  • Lexie Wikel now holds the fifth best time in the program with a 2:00.35 in the 600 meters.
  • Angelica Taylor posted a 9.49 in the 55 meter dash and now has the fifth all-time mark for Tech.
  • Quinlan's times of 30.04 (200 meters) and 1:11.05 (400 meters) are No. 5 in the records book.
  • Kelsey Huffman ran to a season-best in the 200 meters with a 33.21.
  • The women's 4x400 relay team of Quinlan, Huffman, Latapi Gomez and Taylor finished seventh at 5:06.01.
  • Matthew Rhodes threw a personal best with a mark of 11.34 in the weight throw, fourth best in the program.
  • Sam Miller produced a PR in the shot put with a mark of 10.81 meters, third all-time mark at Tech.
  • Evan McElwayne set a personal record in the mile with a 4:55.21 and a PR in the 5,000 meters at 16:19.92, fourth best in the program.
  • Owen Keeney placed fifth in the high jump at 1.88 meters.
  • John Ashton is now third in Tech's record book at 7.07 in the 55 meter dash.
  • Frazer Glen broke his own school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:07.97.
  • Fabrizio Balarezo is fifth all-time for the Golden Bears in the 400 meters at 54.82.
  • The men's 4x400 relay team of Matt Lanzer, Alec Howard, Chucky Jordan and Lorenzo Grispello finished seventh at 3:54.48.
  • The 4x800 relay team of Frazer, Balarezo, Whitcomb and Marcos Garcia Aldama finished fifth and hold Tech's record with a 8:48.81.

The Golden Bears will compete in the River States Conference Championship February 14-15 in Marietta, Ohio.
