WVU Tech swimming captures podium showings at AAC Championship

Women's and Men's Swimming

KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- WVU Tech women's and men's swimming competed at the three-day Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship in Kingsport Thursday-Saturday garnering a total of eight podium showings.

NOTES
  • The Golden Bears earned a total of eight top-three finishes.
  • Jose Fernando Perez, Oleguer Siscart Muntané, Xavier Trovesi and Simon Merhout earned third place in the 800 Free Relay and the 200 Medley Relay.
  • Trovesi touched first in the 400 IM (3:59.15), second in the 200 IM (1:51.44) and second in the 200 Breast (2:03.34).
  • The 400 Medley Relay team of Fernando Perez, Carmine Bernardo, Trovesi and Merhout placed third.
  • Merhout was second in the 200 Back, touching at 1:53.32.
  • Bryson George, Isaac Vallance, Trovesi and Fernando Perez were third in the 400 Free Relay.
  • Mia Wildman, Daniela Bohr, Angie Arenas Florez and Guilia Colombo touched fifth in the 200 and 400 Free Relays and the 200 and 400 Medley Relays. 
  • Arenas Florez's top finish individually was ninth in the 100 Back (1:05.76).
  • Bohr touched seventh in the 200 Breast (2:41.93).
  • Wildman posted a ninth place showing in the 200 Back (2:26.65).
NEXT UP
The Golden Bears will compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship February 5-8 in Kingsport, Tenn.
