WVU Tech cross country raced Friday at the Patty Forgey Invitational hosted by Rio Grande, with Evan McElwayne pacing the men and Lexie Wikel leading the women.
McElwayne finished 7th overall in the men's 8K with a time of 27:41.70, leading a pack of Golden Bears that included Jan Ponsa (29:24.90, 23rd) and Christian Saffouri (30:00.88, 30th). Tech also placed Travis Anderson (30:30.05, 33rd), Eli Jordan (32:00.90, 38th), Samuel Whitcomb (32:17.13, 39th), Chucky Jordan (34:58.74, 41st) and Ethan Cavender (38:30.67, 43rd).
On the women's side, Wikel placed 8th overall in the 6K with a time of 28:42.09, while Peyton Asbury crossed in 19th at 33:51.28.
Opponent highlights: Indiana Kokomo's Jeremiah Miles won the men's 8K in 27:03.90, while teammate Leslie Sprankles claimed the women's 6K title in 26:19.03.
