The WVU Tech volleyball team picked up their first win of the season Friday at the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament, hosted by Indiana Tech. The Golden Bears (1-16) battled through four matches over the weekend, highlighted by a dominant 3-0 sweep over Milligan (Tenn.).
Across the tournament, Tech averaged 9.9 kills, 9.4 assists and 15.3 digs per set, showing growth and resilience against tough competition.
Tournament Highlights:
- Ivana Burgos powered the offense with 37 kills (2.47 per set) and 36 digs.
- Aniston Treadway nearly matched her with 36 kills (2.40 per set), adding strong two-way play.
- Nevaeh Wooding was efficient at the net, recording 28 kills with a .205 hitting percentage along with 6 blocks.
- Addison White showcased her versatility, posting 64 assists (4.27 per set), 31 digs and 5 service aces.
- Yukari Furuichi Blanchard anchored the defense with a team-high 64 digs (4.27 per set) and added 3 service aces.
- Anaís González distributed well with 57 assists and added 5 aces.
In the win against Milligan, Tech hit a season-best .175 while recording 8 service aces and 56 digs to secure the sweep.
The Golden Bears return to the court for their home opener Tuesday, September 9 against Glenville State at 7 p.m. in Van Meter Gym.
