Women's Basketball

BECKLEY, W.Va. - WVU Tech women's basketball erased a 10-point halftime deficit Saturday morning, outscoring Indiana University Southeast 50-34 after the break for a 75-69 River States Conference win inside the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center. The Golden Bears improved to 12-4 overall and 3-3 in league play, while the Grenadiers moved to 7-11 (3-3 RSC).

IU Southeast jumped out to a 22-8 lead after the first quarter and stretched the margin to as many as 16 in the second before Tech settled in defensively and began chipping away. The Golden Bears trailed 35-25 at halftime, then responded with a 24-17 third quarter to pull within three entering the final period.

Tech completed the comeback with a 26-17 fourth, getting timely stops and living at the free-throw line down the stretch. WVU Tech finished 24-of-31 at the stripe and forced 15 IU Southeast turnovers, turning them into 22 points.

Golden Bear Highlights

Emily Wratchford led WVU Tech with 21 points in 19 minutes, going 12-of-13 at the free-throw line to go with five rebounds and two assists.

Alexis Sexton added 18 points on a pair of three-pointers and a perfect 6-for-6 day at the line, while Cadence Stewart finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Emmanuella Amaefula scored seven points and Avery Lucas posted four assists as Tech totaled 11 assists on 22 made field goals.

For IU Southeast, Ella Brown hit five threes and scored 19 points, while Linzie Wernert posted 18 points and 15 rebounds.
