Tech drops road decision at Midway, 86-68

Women's Basketball

MIDWAY, Ky. - WVU Tech women's basketball dropped an 86-68 decision at Midway University on Tuesday evening in a River States Conference Game of the Week matchup inside Marshall Gymnasium. The Golden Bears moved to 12-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play, while the Eagles improved to 14-5 (5-2 RSC).

Midway built an early advantage, taking a 25-15 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 55-38 margin into halftime. WVU Tech settled in after the break and played the Eagles nearly even over the final 20 minutes, winning the third quarter 19-18, but could not close the gap the rest of the way.

The Golden Bears finished the night shooting 43.1 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from three-point range, while also creating extra possessions with 14 offensive rebounds.

Golden Bear Highlights

Alexis Sexton led WVU Tech with 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds, along with two steals.

Cadence Stewart finished with 12 points, knocking down two three-pointers and adding five rebounds.

Maggie Boroski scored 10 points and dished out a team-best four assists, while Emily Wratchford added eight points on 3-of-5 shooting.

Alivia Monroe chipped in six points, five rebounds, Kyra Brown added five points, four rebounds and Emmanuella Amaefula had six points and dished two assists.
