The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Jan. 12–18, 2026. This week’s honors go to sophomore Emily Wratchford (women’s basketball) and freshman Adams S. Turpin-Abdulrazaaq Jr. (wrestling) following strong performances in conference play and tournament competition.
Emily Wratchford (Ravenswood, W.Va.)
Wratchford delivered an efficient and steady offensive presence for the Golden Bears during a three-game week, totaling 31 points while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three-point range. She also went 15-for-17 at the free throw line, providing reliable scoring in key moments.
The sophomore contributed across the stat sheet with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals, playing an important role in both wins as WVU Tech closed the week with back-to-back victories.
Adams S. Turpin-Abdulrazaaq Jr. (Richmond, Va.)
Turpin-Abdulrazaaq turned in a dominant performance at the Builder Invite, capturing the heavyweight championship with three victories by fall. He went a perfect 3–0 on the day, ending each bout early to secure first place in a 15-team field.
The freshman’s strength and control were on display throughout the tournament, helping WVU Tech finish sixth overall and continuing a strong start to his collegiate career.
