The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Jan. 19–25, 2026. This week’s honors go to freshman Isaac Agee (track and field) and Lorenzo Silva (swimming) following record-setting and meet-winning performances for the Golden Bears.
Isaac Agee (Hines, W.Va.)
Agee continued his standout indoor season at the Liberty Open by setting a new WVU Tech school record in the men’s 60-meter dash, clocking a 7.30. He also added a strong effort in the long jump, helping WVU Tech stack quality performances against a deep field.
The freshman’s speed and consistency have been a driving force early in the season, as he continues to deliver high-level results and push the program’s standards forward.
Lorenzo Silva (São Paulo, Brazil)
Silva powered WVU Tech’s men to a home dual win against West Virginia Wesleyan with three individual event victories. He won the 800 freestyle (10:08.45), 200 freestyle (2:20.11) and 400 freestyle (4:58.75), providing a steady stream of points and momentum throughout the meet.
His performance helped anchor a strong team showing in Beckley, as the Golden Bears earned multiple wins across the event lineup and took both relays on the men’s side.
