BECKLEY, W.Va. — Joost Hermeling scored twice and Iñaki Sacramento added another goal Saturday as WVU Tech men's soccer earned a 3-1 River States Conference victory over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College at the YMCA Paul Cline Memorial Sports Complex.
The Golden Bears picked up their third consecutive win, improving to 6-2-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Tech also remained unbeaten at home at 3-0-1.
Hermeling opened the scoring in the first half, finishing a play set up by Gonzalo Sabeh and Gonzalo Gorostiza Colman. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods answered in the opening half when Nikolas Kellner found the net, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
Tech regained the lead in the second half when Hermeling scored his second goal of the match. Sacramento also found the net after the break, giving the Golden Bears the 3-1 advantage they carried through the final whistle.
