WVU Tech falls to UT Knoxville in Siege action

BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech Rainbow Six Siege dropped a 2-0 decision to UT Knoxville on Wednesday night inside the Golden Bear Esports Lab, falling 7-3 in Game One and 8-6 in a tightly contested Game Two.

The Golden Bears move to 0-2 in NECC play as they continue to build chemistry early in the spring slate.


Game One – Club House

UTK 7, WVU Tech 3

After a competitive start, UT Knoxville gradually pulled away on Club House. WVU Tech picked up three rounds but was unable to string together momentum in key swing rounds.

Noah Tucker (bizzy.biyombo) led Tech with 8 eliminations and 3 assists. Andrew Gwinn (amgscythe) added 6 kills, while Patrick Hilbert (Hilbert225) chipped in 7 kills in the opener. Tobias Hill (salad81) and Ty Bock (BockShiesty) combined for eight eliminations as Tech worked to hold defensive setups against UTK's coordinated pushes.

UT Knoxville secured the final rounds to close the map 7-3.


Game Two – Nighthaven Labs

UTK 8, WVU Tech 6

The second map was a battle from start to finish.

Hilbert225 delivered a standout performance with 16 eliminations and 4 assists, keeping WVU Tech within striking distance throughout the map. Bizzy.biyombo added 9 kills and 2 assists, while salad81 contributed 10 eliminations and 5 assists in one of Tech's strongest collective efforts of the young season.

The Golden Bears forced overtime after trading rounds late, but UT Knoxville capitalized in the final moments to secure the 8-6 victory.

  • Hilbert recorded a team-high 16 kills in Game Two.
  • Salad81 reached double-digit eliminations (10) in the second map.

WVU Tech returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 8:00 PM when the Golden Bears take on Alabama in Huntsville inside the Golden Bear Esports Lab.
