OWENSBORO, Ky. — WVU Tech split a River States Conference doubleheader on the road Thursday, rallying for a 5-3 victory in the opener before falling 9-1 in game two against Brescia University. The Golden Bears now sit at 5-9 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

WVU Tech delivered a strong late-game surge to secure the opener, scoring five runs over the final two innings to erase a 3-0 deficit.
After being held scoreless through five innings, the Golden Bears broke through in the sixth. Tori Wells singled and later scored on an RBI single from Hailea Skeens, who finished with a standout performance at the plate.
Tech continued to build momentum in the seventh inning. Peyton Hudnall singled to start the rally before Skeens added another hit. Olivia Barnett followed with an RBI single to tie the game, and Brenna Reedy delivered the decisive blow with a two-run double to give WVU Tech a 5-3 lead.
In the circle, Meghan Gill went the distance, tossing a complete game and limiting Brescia to three runs (two earned) on nine hits while working through traffic to keep the Golden Bears within striking distance all afternoon.
WVU Tech totaled seven hits in the win and capitalized on key opportunities late to secure the conference victory.

The Golden Bears continued to compete in game two, generating early opportunities and tying the game in the fifth before Brescia used a big inning to pull away.
WVU Tech collected five hits in the contest, led by multi-hit performances from Hailea Skeens and Olivia Barnett, who each recorded two hits.
The Golden Bears broke through in the fifth inning when Hudnall singled and later scored on an RBI single from Skeens to even the game at 1-1.
Brescia responded with a six-run fifth inning and added two more runs in the sixth to take control.
In the circle, Taylor Scott delivered another extended outing, pitching 5.2 innings and continuing to handle a heavy workload for the Golden Bears this season.

In the circle, Taylor Scott leads the Golden Bears with 45.1 innings pitched and 17 strikeouts, posting two wins and five complete games. Meghan Gill has added 41.2 innings pitched and 11 strikeouts, highlighted by her complete-game win in game one Thursday.
